About
Mission-driven consultancy helping you navigate pivotal challenges with clarity, confidence, and integrity.
Navigators have long relied on true north, the steady axis around which all else turns. I founded this consultancy on the same conviction: that even as the ground shifts beneath us—across lives, policies, or politics—we can still find our bearings, hold fast to principle, and move with purpose.
Through structured dialogue and strategic reflection, I help clients find their true north, clarifying goals, mapping realistic pathways, and communicating with purpose, so they can navigate complexity, overcome obstacles, and build lasting impact.
Vision
A future where individuals and organizations, regardless of power or position, can navigate complex systems, advancing their goals without compromising their values.

About Me

Elizabeth Donkervoort
Founder and Principal
Over the past two decades, my work has taken me from city halls to courtrooms, and from grassroots organizations to international partnerships—all connected by a common thread: helping people and institutions find their direction in complex and shifting terrain.

I began my career in municipal law, advising local governments on governance and policy while helping individuals navigate insurance and employment disputes. That early balance between structure and empathy shaped how I approach all my work today—steadying people and systems alike when the path ahead feels uncertain.

Since then, I’ve led global programs on civic engagement, rule of law, digital privacy, and human rights with organizations such as the American Bar Association, the International Republican Institute, and Freedom House. I co-founded the China Strategic Risks Institute to foster dialogue on foreign interference and rights-based governance, and I serve on the boards of community-based initiatives including the Institute for Innovation and Global Engagement at the University of Washington Tacoma and NüVoices, an editorial collective of artists, writers, and academics amplifying underrepresented perspectives.

These experiences have taught me that progress lasts when it’s anchored in both integrity and imagination—when we stay oriented to our true north, even as conditions change.

At True North Strategies, I help individuals and organizations do just that: navigate uncertainty, make clear choices, and move forward with confidence and purpose.
